Gluten-Free Delight: Chinese Sesame Balls (Jian Dui)

1 cup of glutinous rice flour 1/4 cup of tapioca starch 1/4 cup of sugar 1/2 cup of water 1/2 cup of sesame seeds Vegetable oil for frying

Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour, tapioca starch, and sugar. Mix well.

Instructions

Slowly add water to the mixture and knead until you have a smooth and pliable dough.

Divide the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.

Flatten each ball with your palm, making a small indentation in the center.

Fill each indentation with about 1/4 teaspoon of water to help create steam while frying.

Roll each ball in sesame seeds until fully coated.

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F.

Carefully drop the sesame balls into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.

Remove the sesame balls from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
